The Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System (MTRS) was established on July 1, 1914. The MTRS, which is the largest of the Commonwealth’s 104 contributory retirement systems, provides retirement, disability and survivor benefits to Massachusetts teachers, administrators and their families. The assets of the MTRS are held in the Pension Reserves Investment Trust (PRIT) fund managed by the Pension Reserves Investment Management (PRIM) Board.
